Health, safety and compliance
Safety is either inside the programme or it is a document nobody reads. This page sets out how we run it — and what we have not put in place yet.
The approach
Every job gets risk assessments and method statements issued before mobilisation, not written up retrospectively to satisfy an audit. The people who will carry out the work are briefed on them, and the brief is recorded.
Under CDM 2015 we take principal contractor duties where we are appointed to, which means a construction phase plan before work starts, welfare from day one, and co-ordination of every contractor on site. Where somebody else is principal contractor, we work to their plan and provide our RAMS into it.
On occupied sites
Most of our work happens in buildings people are living or working in, which changes the risk profile entirely. Segregation is physical rather than notional, routes are kept clear and compliant, dust is controlled at source, and the site is left safe and clean at the end of every day rather than at the end of the job.
On social housing, education and healthcare work, operatives in occupied properties are DBS checked and we provide the evidence with our documentation.
Asbestos
On any building constructed before 2000, a refurbishment and demolition survey is required before strip out. We will not price strip-out work on a pre-2000 building without seeing the survey, and where asbestos is present it is removed under a separate licensed contract before our work begins. This is not a position we negotiate on.
What we do not yet have
This is the section most contractors leave out. ATR Developments was incorporated in March 2025, so our accident record is short — which is a statement of fact rather than a safety claim, and we would rather present it that way than imply a decade of clean statistics.
Third-party safety accreditations, where held or in progress, are listed on the accreditations and insurance page. If one is a condition of your framework, ask us directly before you shortlist and we will give you a straight answer.
On every job
What happens before anyone starts work
Site-specific risk assessment
Written for the actual site, not lifted from a previous job with the address changed.
Method statement
How the work will be carried out, in the sequence it will happen, with the controls named.
Operative briefing
Everyone on site is briefed on the RAMS before starting, and the briefing is recorded.
Welfare and set-up
Welfare, segregation, signage and access arrangements in place from day one.
Ongoing review
RAMS reissued when the work or the conditions change, rather than left as a day-one document.
Before you shortlist us
Everything a pre-qualification asks for, set out as it actually stands rather than as we would like it to.
