The Sandal brief

For a Sandal, Wrenthorpe or Walton extension, compare the new accommodation with the garden and access that remain. A large plot may still contain trees, drains or level changes near the most convenient building position. Start with a site plan that shows those features as well as the house.

Preparation guidance, not a survey of your property. The location photograph shows the area; it is not evidence of work by ATR.

WF2 / 01

Keep the retained garden usable

Bring to the conversationExisting and proposed site plans with access routes.

Why this matters

Draw the remaining access, storage and garden circulation after the extension. Consider how maintenance, bikes or garden equipment reach the rear without depending on a passage the new room removes.

WF2 / 02

Record trees and drainage together

Bring to the conversationA tree and drain position sketch with photographs.

Why this matters

Mark trees on neighbouring land as well as your own, and locate existing drain covers. Ask what survey or specialist advice is needed before deciding where foundations and new drainage should go.
